European Lawyers' Day 2024

European Lawyers' Day is celebrated, as it is every year, on 25 October.

The theme of this year's European Lawyers' Day is “Independent lawyers, stronger democracies: understanding why self-regulation matters”. This year, the Supreme Bar Council is organising a dedicated meeting at its headquarters. In addition, the NRA, together with the NRA's Professional Development Committee, is organising a training course on that day entitled ‘Communication with a child, including a child with disabilities, a child with complex communication needs’.

European Lawyers’ Day has been organised by the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) in all member states since 2014. Its aim is to promote the idea of the rule of law and the fundamental values of justice, promoting the legal profession as a defender of human rights, and supporting the construction of civil society.

Founded in 1960, the CCBE is recognised as the voice of the European legal profession, representing more than one million European lawyers through its members. CCBE membership includes bar and law societies from 45 countries from the European Union, the European Economic Area and wider Europe.

The organisation consists of 32 full members, three associate members and ten observer states. The CCBE represents the European bar and law societies before the European institutions and international organisations. The CCBE’s mission is to address issues related to the regulation of the legal profession, the defence of the rule of law, human rights and democratic values. Adv. Bartosz Grohman, vice-president of the NRA and chair of the Polish delegation to the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) and adv. Adam Rogala-Lewicki, Ph.D., member of the NRA’s Institute of Legislation and Parliamentary Work and chair of the ‘Justice – Advocacy for the Future’ Team, responsible for communication between the CCBE and the NRA, invite you to a meeting dedicated to the European Day of the Lawyer.

 

Timtable: 25 October 2024, 12:00 pm

Place: headquarters of the Supreme Bar Council, 16 Świętojerska Street, 00-202 Warsaw.

 

The event will also be available to watch on an online broadcast. The broadcast will take place on the Facebook page of the Supreme Bar Council.

The meeting will be opened by Bartosz Tiutiunik, vice-president of the Supreme Bar Council.

 

During the meeting, the speakers will give a lecture:

– adw. Małgorzata Krzyżowska will give a lecture on the consequences of the implementation of the European convention on the protection of the profession of lawyer,

– Advocate Francesco Goldoni will give a lecture on the history of the lawyer’s robe in Europe, the symbolism and evolution of the legal costume in Europe.

 

In addition, a training course organised together with the NRA’s Professional Development Committee will be held on the same day.

The training entitled.‘Communication with a child, including a child with disabilities, a child with complex communication needs’ will be conducted by: Dr Teresa Panas.

Clinical psychologist, university teacher, certified teacher, forensic mediator, systemic family therapist She completed her master’s and doctoral studies at the Catholic University of Lublin. She has completed postgraduate studies in the field of systemic approach in family therapy organised by the Cracow Foundation for Psychotherapy Development; postgraduate studies ‘Manager of research projects’ at WSEI in Lublin; first degree specialisation in clinical psychology; certificate in family and civil mediation issued by the Ministry of Justice in Warsaw; Diploma of Qualified Teacher. She has clinical and therapeutic experience in working with adolescents and adults. Working in the area of coaching, training with teachers, pedagogues, psychologists, probation officers, trainee lawyers, doctors. Member of the Polish Psychological Association since 1981. Chairperson of the PTP from 2018 to 2022. Member of the National Committee of the European Certificate of Psychologist EuroPsy. Member of the Expert Committee on Mental Health Protection at the Ombudsman.

The training will be conducted on the ClickMeeting platform in real time and the recording will be made available on e-pales.
